Biography

Laurentiu Dan Marinovici has joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in August 2011 as a Post-Doctoral Research assistant. Before joining PNNL, Dr. Marinovici had an extensive experience as a teaching assistant while pursuing his master and Ph.D. degrees at both “Gh. Asachi” Technical University of Iasi, Romania and Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He guided students in getting knowledge about fundamentals of circuits theory and control system design. He conducted hands-on lab sessions for undergraduate students’ projects regarding classic and modern control of inverted pendulum and magnetic levitator. Dr. Marinovici is currently involved in projects related to power system stability and control using modern control theory and algorithms.

Research Interests

  • Power systems stability control, demand response control, smart grid control strategies and optimization algorithms, based on the theory of: (i)robust control (H∞ optimal control); (ii)model predictive control (multi-variable MPC, generalized predictive control);(iii) optimal estimation and control (Kalman filters, output estimation, LQR control, Full Information control).
