Biography

Mr. Shankle is the Director of the Electricity Infrastructure and Buildings Division within Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Energy and Environment Directorate. In this role, he is responsible for expanding and advancing PNNL's nationally recognized technical capabilities and programs related to the electric grid of the future and the efficient use of energy in buildings. The EI&B Division consists of more than 200 staff members in three technical groups. Mr. Shankle's career at PNNL began in 1984 and has spanned technical and managerial assignments in carbon management, buildings energy efficiency, techno-economic analysis of energy efficiency technologies, and energy efficiency policy analysis. He has served as a technical group manager, project manager and principal investigator on projects with federal and private clients. Prior to his current role, he was a senior analyst supporting EED's Planning and Analysis Office, where he provided energy and carbon analysis focused on informing and improving strategic decision making.
