Biography

Danny Taasevigen is from Helena, Montana, and joined PNNL in November 2010 after completing his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. Prior to that he had 2 appointed internships at PNNL as an undergraduate student. His current research focuses on reducing energy consumption in new and existing commercial buildings through the application of advanced control strategies. This requires whole building interval meter and building automation system (BAS) data processing and analysis to identify and recommend no and low cost improvement opportunities in commercial buildings, followed by implementation through BAS control code programming. He is also involved in fault detection and diagnostic (FDD) research projects for small commercial buildings served by packaged air conditioners and heat pumps. During his time at PNNL, he has also done research and made contributions in other areas including biomass gasification and pyrolysis, and comprehensive energy and water audits (CEWEs).

Prior to PNNL, he was pursuing his B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Montana State University. His thesis focused on renewable energy sources for residential and commercial boilers. In his spare time, he coaches high school boys basketball and also enjoys running. He is an active member of ASHRAE Technical Committee 7.3 Operations and Maintenance Management.
